We received a question in the comments about the rounded shape of our ice cubes. In this update we will explain this a little further. So let's get technical!
Melting time
Round shaped ice cubes melts slower because their surface area (the area that is in direct contact with your drink) is smaller than any other shape with the same volume. The volume is the amount of water in the ice cube.
Because of the smaller surface area, the rounded ice cubes absorbs less heat from the drink and therefore, the ice will remain longer by melting slower. The rounded ice will cool your drink just as much as a normal ice cube. It will just be spread out over a longer period.
Our ice cubes are not completely spherical, but rather a rounded or diamond shaped from the molds on each side:
How it affect your experience
Because the ice takes longer to melt, you will keep the taste of your drink for longer since it is less diluted by the water from your ice.
Your drink will also stay cold for longer, since the ice will remain in the drink. When we use the POP ice cubes ourselves, we can often use the same ice cubes for two drinks before they melt.
Freezing the ice
The small surface area and the thermo-effective container also means that it takes a little longer to freeze it. We usually leave it in the freezer for 6-7 hours.
